27/04/2021

Stable supply of raw materials in terms of quantity, quality and price plays a decisive role in the production and business efficiency of enterprises and production establishments in craft villages. However, many craft villages in Hanoi are lacking raw materials, especially for handicraft groups. To overcome this situation, Hanoi city has organized connections with other provinces and cities, assisting businesses in finding stable and quality sources of raw materials.

Lack of stable supply

Raw materials for the production of handicrafts, including a number of main categories such as rattan, bamboo, wood, sedge, earth, horn ... are increasingly scarce due to the narrowing of raw material areas. Chairman of the Hanoi Handicraft and Craft Village Association, General Director of Quang Vinh Ceramics Company Limited (Bat Trang Commune, Gia Lam District) Ha Thi Vinh said that the lack of raw materials makes businesses difficult in Contracted for large quantity of goods. Not to mention, the quality of raw materials is also difficult to control. In addition to new material areas in the country, enterprises had to exploit from abroad.

Similarly, the craft villages of rattan, bamboo, and knitting are also “squashing” input materials. There are a number of establishments operating in moderation because raw materials must be obtained from the central provinces and the Northwest with high cost and transportation costs. Director of Hoa Son Fine Arts Co., Ltd (Phu Vinh craft village, Chuong My district) Nguyen Van Trung said that for decades, due to mass exploitation and export, lack of planning and management, so raw materials Vietnam's natural rattan has been exhausted.

According to the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade), in the handicraft industries, wooden furniture is the item that must import the most raw materials. Through research in the known carpentry villages, the source of imported wood from countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia ... is not stable. While the source of wood imported from other regions has high transportation costs, the cost of raw materials increases, reducing the product's competitiveness in the market.

Currently, the main source of raw materials for the bamboo and rattan crafting villages of Hanoi is from the northern mountainous provinces and the central region and partly imported from abroad. And the source of raw materials for ceramics industry is mainly from the provinces with kaolin sources such as Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho. However, according to enterprises, the supply of raw materials is mainly small, low output, fluctuates often, lacks stability in terms of delivery time, quantity and quality.

Many enterprises and production facilities, due to their inability to find a stable supply of raw materials, do not dare to sign export orders of great value, which not only reduces the revenue and reputation of the business with its partners. , but also reduces the employee's income.

Connecting materials to support businesses

According to statistics, the whole city has nearly 5,000 enterprises, cooperatives, and households producing traditional lacquer, inlaid pearls. On average, each household consumes about 1.5 tons of raw materials / month (including types such as bamboo, wood, ceramics, paint, shells, snails ...). The total demand for materials in the lacquer and inlaid industries is about 90,000 tons / year.

With 83 traditional bamboo and rattan crafting villages, the consumption of raw materials of all kinds (rattan, bamboo, bamboo, rattan, bamboo, chit…) of Hanoi city is not small. Estimated, an average enterprise consumes about 40 tons of raw materials / month, household consumes about 15 tons of raw materials / month.

Ceramics group with more than 4,000 enterprises, cooperatives, and production households, consumes about 600,000 tons of raw materials per year, mainly clay and kaolin. For the group of carpentry, the total demand for wood materials of the Hanoi craft villages is estimated at over 1 million cubic meters / year.

In order to help enterprises of the Hanoi handicraft village source raw materials, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hanoi has collaborated with the local Department of Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Vietnam Craft Village Association and the Department of Industry and Trade. provinces and cities in the North implement supply-demand connection programs. Particularly for the connection conference held in 2019, many material supply contracts have been signed, helping Hanoi's handicraft establishments ensure production, and at the same time helping production facilities of localities in the region. the North has a stable and long-term consumption of semi-finished products. In 2020, according to the plan, the connection conferences will continue to be held, but due to the influence of the Covid-19 translation, it cannot be implemented.

However, according to the director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consultancy in Hanoi Dao Hong Thai, the Department of Industry and Trade has actively advised and proposed to relevant levels of support policies, special incentives. is to give priority to creating raw material areas, exploiting and processing raw materials. The Department also proposed the City People's Committee to have a specific mechanism to encourage localities to develop and provide "input" materials for the Hanoi handicraft industry.

“Enterprises and production facilities are also encouraged to link to invest in factories in the raw material areas, in order to take advantage of labor, reduce costs, and contribute to creating a complete and efficient supply-demand chain. ", Mr. Dao Hong Thai information.
