The export turnover of handicraft products reached $ 1.1 billion
According to the Association of exporting handicrafts Vietnam (Vietcarft), in 10 months of 2013, exports of handicraft products in Vietnam reached $ 1.1 billion, down 10% compared to the same period last year last.
According Vietcarft picture exporting handicrafts of Vietnam in recent years there are not many bright spots. If the period from 2000 - 2009, export turnover of the industry is always achieved at the rate of 12% from 2010 to now only about 6%.
For the year to March 10/2013, exports of handicrafts products in Vietnam reached $ 1.1 billion, despite increases in volume, but decreased 10% in value compared with the same period last year.
Explaining the reasons, according Vietcarft is due to a policy of development of the arts and crafts industry VietNam though was deployed but was not effectively bringing high. Meanwhile, infrastructure, trade promotion has not met the requirements.
On the other hand, according to the international customers, the models are poor of Vietnam. Some low quality goods from low-skilled workers, less attention to quality. Many businesses do not have a sustainable business strategy that declining orders. In addition, input prices rise and cause the competitiveness of products is declining.
Therefore, according Vietcarft, in the future, need to review each to build a new development strategy for the sector and the Government is expected by the end of 2014; 2 production organization dedicated direction between the mass and the high quality product. /.
