Turn coconut shells into fine art for export
From traditional craftsmanship is root carving, woodworking driftwood, for many years Bao's family moved to produce fine art products with coconut shells. Coconut shell has five colors, white, yellow white, brown, dark brown, black. After buying materials, coconut shells are processed through many stages to make art products.
Bao graduated from Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts University. Hoay has not found a job, accidentally followed his father from Tuy Hoa City to Tuy An district to visit relatives, he found that Bao people throw away coconut shells rolled everywhere, even piled up. "I picked up half of the dried coconut shells to try to reveal a lot of beautiful colors, then I discuss with the father sent samples by the Department of Environmental Science and Technology of the province to determine the absence of toxic substances "he recalls. At 25 years old, he decided to open a handicraft workshop using coconut shells from his family's initial capital of several hundred million dong.
Each month, he buys about 3-5 tons of coconut shells from farmers in Tuy An district with the price of 20,000 VND per 25 kg bag. From the debris of all sizes, his production base, assembled into many fine art products such as plates, trays, table lamps, exclusive ... as souvenirs for tourists and mainly Exports to Japan, USA and Germany, in which Japan is the main market. With a turnover of more than 2 billion dong per year, Bao's production base generates about 100 poor and handicapped children. On average, both seasonal and main laborers enjoy a monthly salary of 2.5 to 3 million VND.
On the occasion of Vietnam Fisheries Festival 2014 is taking place in Phu Yen, Mr. Bao introduced the model of the largest tuna in Vietnam is made from coconut shells. This work is 6m long, 3m high, weighs 350kg and is made from over 1 million pieces of coconut shells made by 10 artisans in 3 months. Mr. Bao will hold an auction for this work to support local charities.
Since 2005, Bao's family has been certified three times by the Vietnam Record Center for the record of three works "Huyen Su Doi Hung" (the largest jar in Vietnam), "Source Vietnamese Light "(Vietnam's largest table lamp) and" Calling Sea "(Bird's Nest model in Vietnam). In which "Vietnamese light source" is assembled from 500,000 pieces coconut shells, higher than 6m, 3m shade diameter. For 8 months, 32 new artisans have finished making this product.
