Vietnam ranks the 6th in exporting wooden products in the world.
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development estimated that the export value of wood and wooden products in August reached 432 million USD, and the total of export value from Jan to Aug of 2013 was over 3,34 billion USD, increased by 11.6% compared to that of the same period of 2012.
In the first 7 months of 2013, except for Germany (decreased by 14.4%) and French markets (decreased by 2.2%), exports of wood and wooden products to major ones was growing most strongly, specifically: The United States increased by 7.2%, China by 14.7%, Japan by 20.3%, Korea by 48.2% compared to the same period of last year.
In 2012, the export turn-over of wooden and forest products was 4,67 billion USD, increased by 15.3% compared to 2011. This is the field which had a highest trade surplus in country.
In forecast for 2013, exports of wood and wooden products will grow by 10% with about 5,5 billion USD turn-over.
The United States took a lead which the turn-over reached over 1 billion USD, accounting for 36.7% of the market, growing by 7.24% compared to the previous year. Just in July 2013, the export turn-over of wood and wooden products to UK reached 176,2 million USD. The main products were chair, pine beds, desks, wardrobes…
Turn-over of China market was the second with 491,3 million USD, increased by 14.71% compared to the same period.
Japanese market is a potential market for the wood exporting companies. In the first 7 months of 2013, the turn-over was 441 million USD.
